Product Details

Use our water-based finishes to restore and condition:

absorbent aniline and semi-aniline leather,
non-absorbent full-grain or top-grain leather,
and vinyl upholstery.

Our finishes won’t sunfade or backstain like leather dyes. They don't feel plasticky, flake or peel like spray paints.

Do not use on fabric, suede, nubuck, bonded or faux leather.

Store in a temperate, dark place away from children.

Changing color is best suited to absorbent leather.

If the material repels water, add cross-linker to the color to boost adhesion. Adding 1 Satin Sealer to 4 parts color also serves this purpose and is needed to seal bright colors.

Thorough cleaning and stress testing the color are critical!

The following are not good candidates and will require touch-up:

changing from red / dark to white / pale;
worn, cracking, scaly or thinning leather;
furniture with lots of wrinkles, folds, deep creases (and therefore stress);
pieces that are heavily used or harshly cleaned (kids, dogs, chemicals);
car or boat upholstery (for these we suggest a heavier urethane coating);
bonded, faux or polyurethane (PU) ‘leather’ which repel all finishes (including their own).

Here's what wear looks like on non-absorbent leather or vinyl:

Our finishes wear naturally, resulting in a distressed look.

Deeper lines or creases receive more stress.

Easy rub-off indicates inadequate cleaning.

The color may flake if applied too thickly and allowed to pool in the grain.

This is easily corrected by thinning the color with alcohol and reapplying.

Answer these three questions to determine what clear finish, if any, is needed for leather:

Do unworn areas absorb water?

Are you applying a primary or secondary color (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple)?

Mix 1 to 2 parts Clear Prep+Finish™ + 1 part color for the first coat. Use one coat of Satin Sealer for a final topcoat.

Use equal parts color and Clear Prep+Finish™ from start to finish. If it dries too shiny, reduce the amount of clear in the mix for your final coat. Conversely, if more shine is desired, add more clear to the mix or use alone as a topcoat.

Apply a thin coat of Clear Prep+Finish™ and disperse quickly so it does not dry too shiny. You can also try equal parts color and clear.

The color will dry matte and does not need an additional sealer.

Mix 4 parts color with 1 part Clear Prep+Finish™ and use from start to finish (or alone as a final topcoat).

I used a mixture of Stone and Taupe (purchased 8-oz. bottles of each) to completely redo a worn-out, ugly, 20-year old brown leather chair. I changed the color to match the decor when I upgraded my master bedroom. I used several items to get the best application: slightly moist hand sponge and two paint brushes (small and large) to get into nooks and crannies. The dye completely covered the old brown places, but also evened out the areas that were sun-bleached and dry. It was impossible to keep the dye off of the brass upholstery nails since I used the small paint brush to get dye all around the nail heads. Once everything was dry, 0000 steel wool did not work to remove the dye from the nail heads without damaging the adjacent dye on the leather, so I ended up removing the 200 (!!!!!) nails with a upholstery tool. I put those nails in a jar with a very small amount of paint remover and swished it around...all of the dye came off easily! I then used the steel wool to remove any lingering dye, and tapped the nails back into the chair. Finished the next day with multiple coats of a very good leather oil which I let soak in. FYI, I used no primer or clear coat. This chair now looks like a very expensive, brand new piece of furniture! Fantastic product and definitely recommended!

We used ~12 oz of dye and 7 oz of primer and conditioner on original 1955 Bonanza Beechcraft seats. Took two days...and WE love the way it turned out! Again these seats are 61 years old! We will tell all our 'pilot friends' about this product!

Your product is great and, as promised, easy to use. However, I did not take your advice to order color swatches and the ivory was too yellow. I exchanged it for Stone. Thanks for a great product. Chair turned out great! Your product is amazing, only exceeded by the great customer service. Thanks so much!

Got the 'slate' and 'stone' dyes (along with the patching compound) yesterday.

2 words: 'WOW' and 'THANKS'. Both the sofa and chair (approx. 15 years old) literally look brand new. Unfortunately, I didn't take 'before' pictures, but the transformations are truly incredible. You're selling a phenomenal product (but you already knew that)!!!

We used the cleaner, dye and clear coat and can not be more happy with the outcome of our boat seats. You ladies have an amazing product and I'm happy sharing our pics with all our friends as we have posted them on our social media sites. Our friends are all amazed at the transformation and are asking a ton of questions. We are referring everyone to your web site. Thank you!! The seats are all original on a 2002 premier 18 ft pontoon. The previous owner didn't take very good care of it for most its life. Leaving it sit outside under the elements and never really cleaning it. The seats are all original on a 2002 premier 18 ft pontoon. The previous owner didn't take very good care of it for most its life. Leaving it sit outside under the elements and never really cleaning it. We have owned it for the past 4 yrs and couldn't take the look of the seats anymore. It was so bad that we didn't even like taking our friends out on it. We thought about having the seats all redone until I received a quote for the supplies and labor. We had tried almost every cleaner out on the market along with good ol elbow grease scrubbing and power washing. NOTHING WORKED! Then I stumbled onto your product. I will admit, it sounded to good to be true. After a weekend of cleaning and staining we did it!! Thank you again.

As with anything time will tell, we do have kids that love to have cannon ball competitions jumping off the boat and a dog that loves to swim then lay on the sun deck to dry. Im confident we made the right decision.
