Custom Color Service
$120
Send a sample, and email photos to customize a matching color for your vinyl or leather. Custom Colors will not be mixed October 19-30 while Jane is on holiday.ย
This fee is for labor (see the process and timeline below). The color is a separate cost: 8 oz. is the order minimum for $49; the 16 oz. size is a better value at $79. Your formula and a master swatch will be kept on file should you ever re-order.
Formulation and re-order fees are non-refundable. We do not accept returns on Custom Colors.
Find a Sample
The bigger the better. Color matches will not be guaranteed on samples smaller than 2″ x 3″ size. Samples can be:
- Original leather or vinyl (found underneath cushions, or pull some staples and trim from the frame);
- Cushion case (please indicate which area you want matched with a piece of blue painters tape);
- Headrest, fuse panel cover, or component from a vehicle;
- Paint chip from a hardware store (beware, the paint chip may not actually match the material).
Swatches taken from the frame or under cushions may not match the rest of the piece, which means a Custom Color may not either, and you will have to do more blending or refinish the entire piece. In this instance, you may prefer using one of our standard colors.

The Process & Timeline
Upon receipt of your sample, we email you with either an invoice or request for more information. Once paid, we begin formulation. This is usually completed in just 1-2 business days. However, if we have a lot of Custom Colors in the queue, it may take up to a week. When it ships, you’ll receive a tracking number along with any specific recommendations for use.
We begin by mixing a small amount of color and test it directly on your sample. We examine it in direct sunlight and indoors. We adjust the color accordingly and re-examine until we are satisfied with the formula. This is a painstaking process done with a professional eye. No computer can read the color on a textured surface nor write a formula as accurately, and certainly not without human refinement. This is especially true with base-and-print or marbled aniline leathers.
We then expand the formula to the desired volume. This final color is tested once more on your sample and adjusted if necessary. We stain a piece of scrap leather or vinyl. Half is returned to you with your order (and any components you may have sent); the other is retained on file in the event of a re-order.
Please note, pigments drift. Despite having a formula and swatch on file, if you re-order, we go through the whole song-and-dance again, and so a re-mix fee is charged.
Glad I paid for the custom match. It was perfect!
I almost replaced the sofa because of this damage. So glad I found you!

The rest of the Lazy Boy chair is in good shape (except where you grasp the arm ends with your hand) and as such I just wanted to refinish the head rest area and arm ends. Because of that, the dye/paint had to match almost exactly since the rest of the chair was to be left in its original color.
I received your shipment and I applied it according to your web site instructions - which were very clear.
I was very pleased with the results and the color could not have been any closer to the original. As I stated before, I only did the head rest area so it had to match the rest of the chair - and indeed it did.
It is one of those things where if anyone walking into the room was to see the chair as it is after applying your product, they would never know it had a problem in the first place. You have to look very closely at it and know there was a problem to see any variations. Even that is probably more due to wear of the chair (4 years old) as the leather texture is slightly smoother in that area.
Bottom line - Great product. Very happy with the custom color that you came up with.
Cut it open and added stuffing that went flat. I found Rub N Restore on the internet and gave it a try. After I got my custom color and other materials I followed all the video instructions and it turned out great. Thanks Rub N Restore
