Product Details

Our water-based finishes work on:

absorbent aniline and semi-aniline leather,
non-absorbent full-grain or top-grain leather,
and vinyl upholstery.

Do not use on fabric, suede, nubuck, bonded or faux leather.

Our finishes won’t sun fade or backstain like leather dyes. They don't feel plasticky, flake or peel like spray paints.

See here before changing color!

Changing color requires poses more maintenance than simply restoring to original. The following are not good candidates and will require touch-up:

changing from red / dark to white / pale;
worn, cracking, scaly or thinning leather;
furniture with lots of wrinkles, folds, deep creases (and therefore stress);
pieces that are heavily used or harshly cleaned (kids, dogs, chemicals);
car or boat upholstery;
bonded, faux or polyurethane (PU) ‘leather’ which repel all finishes (including their own).

Thorough cleaning and stress testing the color are critical! Add 1/2 teaspoon cross-linker per every 2 oz color to improve adhesion and durability. Adding 1 part Satin Sealer to 4 parts color is also recommended to seal bright colors.

How to match a color?

How much do I need?

Colors and clear finishes get the same coverage per bottle. Usually 2-3 coats of color are needed where only one coat of clear finish is needed (so buy half as much of it).

A little goes a long way! These estimates can vary based upon quality and condition of material.

2 oz. covers ~ 15 – 20 square feet
4 oz. covers ~ 30 – 40 square feet
8 oz. covers ~ 60 – 80 square feet
16 oz. covers ~ 120 – 160 square feet

Great stuff

Great stuff. I used it over a very black leather jacket and the coverage was impressive. With only one coat it looked good. Some splotchiness, but not bad, and as I said that was only one coat. Several coats would have made it impressively smooth. Five-stars! Will use again!

75+ Year old "Easy" Chair

Awesome

I love it Went from dark brown to grey . Great product. My leather still is soft . Looks as if I purchased it that way I used 3 coats 1 16oz bottle . Will definitely buy again and told all my friends . I purchased Stone.

This stuff is PHENOMENAL!

This stuff is phenomenal! I knew my husband wouldn’t buy us new furniture, this is 26 years old, and was in pristine condition. I just needed to restuff some of the the couch cushions. I had just used Rub & Buff, and googled leather furniture paint, and Rub & Restore popped up. I wanted to update the family room, but didn’t want to change paint color. I wanted lighter color s, and decided gray would look best. I bought 3 bottles and did 2 oversized chairs, 2 ottomans, and a 10ft massive couch, all in about 7 days.

Wonderful paint

It worked!

I will admit I was a skeptic thinking this stuff would not work or would mess up the look of my bed. I was so pleased when I was done that I was looking for other things to paint! It took several coats and you have to let it dry. But the finished product looked great!

Amazing!!

A year of so ago I did my couch and loveseat in camel color. It was already that color and I wanted to "refresh" it. It held up so well and everyone thought we got new couches. Now I decided I was ready to switch up the color. With Lesandre's help is getting the color I was looking for - I re-did the couch and love seat in stone. It looks amazing. I love the product, the customer service and everything about Rub n Restore!!!

Stone color !

It is easy to apply and fast with a hair blower.
My mistake is my leather chair specially was used and dry at different places and had to try to applied a lot of dye in cracks/ fading
spots. I did my ottoman and looking great. No issues with it. I have to do my sofa now and am expecting a good 5-6 days to do. I can only work during daylight because hard to see.
For my chair, I will have to look what Rub& Restore has to repair those spots(quite a few) and dye on top of it.
Beside that I’m really happy with the product and would recommend it

Truck seat repairs

Stone matches the Tundra 2002 also! Gave New life to very old worn seats. The color and finish are so easy to use. The filler is more complex but very user friendly. Wonderful products!!!

Blown away

I was gifted this high quality analine loveseat. It had pen doodles, stains, and discolorations, but was in great shape. I loved the piece, but the brown color didn’t match anything in my home and I really wanted a way to cover up the stains and markings. I was skeptical, but watched all the videos, read reviews, and decided to give it a try. I’m SO glad I did. My husband and I are blown away with the quality of the results. Now I want to find more leather pieces to restore!

Getting our primer on

We are going from black to a custom blue. This was recommended as a primer. It dries pretty quickly, but covers nicely. We didn’t think it needed to be even for our purpose. Looking forward to the next, much more detailed steps. Stay tuned!! (Final picture is the color we’re finishing with)

A new life for my sectional!

I loved everything about my sectional, except the color. It fits my families needs well and there was not a"real" need to replace. I was just not in love with the color. It was very dark brown and made an already dark room feel even darker.

I found rubn'restore online. I'll admit, I was slightly sceptical. Did I really want to take a chance on a $8,000 sectional? I figured if I didn't like it, I'd just pick another color.

It's easy to apply, just follow directions. I ordered swatches to be sure of the color. Very inexpensive and if you return them, they'll give you a coupon code to use in future.

Unbelievable

I used this on a 15 year old hot tub cover that was stained, faded and looked pretty bad. After 1 application it looks brand new!!!I could not be happier!!! Wonderful product!!

Remarkable Coverage!

I must admit I was very skeptical about how well this would cover my green ottoman/sofas and if it would feel different afterwards. So far I have finished my ottoman and it looks like new!
