Great, easy project! It literally is as straightforward as the instructions say. It took three coats to go from dark green to “stone”. I need touch up a couple of spots and still have 1/3 of the large bottle left. Good product, but one star off because it did slightly change the texture of the leather. I’m wondering if it’s because this couch was so soft and squishy to begin with... it’s now a bit less supple. It could soften up with use and curing as well.

I bought this leather sofa on craigslist for $200. It was a great deal, sells at Nieman Marcus for $4000. But it was not my style at all so I wanted too give it a major makeover. I found your product online, watched several vids and decided to give it a try. I did a mix of 3 parts stone and 1 part Slate.  I do have about a whole bottle left over for touch ups but I will be doing some 1940’s modern chairs pretty soon. Worked amazing! I was really impressed with your product. I wrapped the frame in Pecan wood and it turned out very beautiful.

I bought this to paint a lazy boy reliever chair we’ve have for over 20 years. The chair was in good condition I just wanted to change the color so that it Coordinated better with the room. The video tutorials on line were very helpful in knowing how to clean the chair before painting and then how to apply the paint correctly. I did probably 8 or 9 light coats of the paint and used about 3/4 of the bottle. I ended up using one of those cheap foam brushes to get into the cracks and creases of the chair in the head rest and seat areas. The sponge just wasn’t able to get into those little creases well enough. Clean up is super easy as you just...More

I also ended up painting the wood arm rails on the chair because covering with painters tape was kind of a pain. The paint actually applied to the wood really well too. I only did about three coats on the wooden arms. I dont know how it will hold up over time. I may just do a layer of Polycrylic over the wooden arms to keep them from chipping. I am very pleased with the results. Friends can’t believe I was able to change the color by painting. It feels just as soft as it did originally.

Overall very pleased with ease of product and out come. When starting out I put the layers on a little too thin should have went a little heavier, I was putting it on more like a wash because I was afraid if putting it on too thick. Did have trouble after I put on the prep, thought I could go back and fix spots I missed and now have lap marks where I tried, over all I am pleased and was easy to work with. Would use again.

We purchased a custom 10' leather sofa 30 years ago from a friend that owned a high end furniture factory in Hickory, NC. After recently changing the interior paint colors of our home, my wife expressed an interest in purchasing a new sofa. Upon spending a day of visiting furniture stores, we saw several in the color we liked but not in the length needed. On the way home, I made the comment that leather could be stained like a pair of shoes. She was very sceptical but after checking out the process on the Rub'n Restore website, I assured her that I could create a new sofa within a few days. I placed my order of two 16 oz. bottles of Stone dye which arrived very promptly. I'm not going to lie. Patience is required for a good job! It took several hours to prep and clean the couch using Acetone, of which a good pair of industrial rubber gloves was required. As our sofa had cushions that were pleated and end sections that reclined, I was only able to apply two coats of dye each day. I could have stopped at four coats, as we were going from a light color to a darker color but decided to give it one more as the color kept getting richer and deeper as I went. When my wife returned home from work on the third day, she was greeted by our new leather sofa at a cost of less than $160. It truly looks like new. Thanks for a great product!

Hi - just wanted to send you our before and after pics of the couch I refinished last night (actually kind of a ‘during’ picture as I had actually started working on the top sides when I remembered to take a picture!) Your product is AMAZING! So easy to use and I’m just in love with our ‘new’ couch! Went front faded and worn brown to a lovely gray. I used ‘Stone’ and think it looks great. Thanks for your help in colour selection.

It really works well! I bought 8oz bottle and it was enough to cover a whole couch. The instructions were so clear, it took 5 layers and about 3 hours with drying time to do the job. It dries fast and easy to work with. Stone grey covered the dark brown perfectly. Now I have my favorite color leather couch without buying a new one. I loved the product so much, I ordered more. A few more projects to do. Very pleased! Thank you!

We'll unfortunately I was pressed for time, I ordered this and the clear conditioner just in time before my mom had to move. I was so excited to get started, after doing one half of the couch, I was waiting for the paint to cure, thinking it was going to eventually turn the grayish color it shows but it didn't. Coat after coat I thought it will get there, but it never did and now the couch is useless, garbage. It ruined the couch, the clear stuff is useless watery nothing, it does nothing on its own so that too was a waste of money. All in all I spent 100 on just these two products and all they did was ruin our leather sofa. I'm crushed, and ...More

I guess my only hope is spray paint and paint thinner, which I should've just done to begin with.

We bought the product as our light colored vinyl furniture was yellowing from the south window exposure. Very apprehensive as the three pieces (sofa, loveseat and chair) were only 2 years old. So easy to apply. Perfect results, perfect color match. Looks like new furniture from the factory once again. Those that see our living room furniture can't believe it is the same set!

I was so skeptical and intended to give this couch away! I am glad I tried it. I was skimpy with the dye at first but when I finished a portion of the couch and looked at how much I had used I then began to be liberal with it and it works better. This couch was stained and nasty. It is now a beautiful piece! I may find thrift store pieces and do them and sell them! What a product!

I used a mixture of Stone and Taupe (purchased 8-oz. bottles of each) to completely redo a worn-out, ugly, 20-year old brown leather chair. I changed the color to match the decor when I upgraded my master bedroom. I used several items to get the best application: slightly moist hand sponge and two paint brushes (small and large) to get into nooks and crannies. The dye completely covered the old brown places, but also evened out the areas that were sun-bleached and dry. I ended up using 2 coats in most places, but an additional coat where the leather had completely bleached out or had animal scratches. It was impossible to keep the dye of...More

It was impossible to keep the dye off of the brass upholstery nails since I used the small paint brush to get dye all around the nail heads. Once everything was dry, 0000 steel wool did not work to remove the dye from the nail heads without damaging the adjacent dye on the leather, so I ended up removing the 200 (!!!!!) nails with a upholstery tool. I put those nails in a jar with a very small amount of paint remover and swished it around...all of the dye came off easily! I then used the steel wool to remove any lingering dye, and tapped the nails back into the chair. Finished the next day with multiple coats of a very good leather oil which I let soak in. FYI, I used no primer or clear coat. This chair now looks like a very expensive, brand new piece of furniture! Fantastic product and definitely recommended!

We used ~12 oz of dye and 7 oz of primer and conditioner on original 1955 Bonanza Beechcraft seats. Took two days...and WE love the way it turned out! Again these seats are 61 years old! We will tell all our 'pilot friends' about this product!
