Mix Clear Prep+Finish™ with any color to make a more transparent glaze and use for:

priming absorbent aniline or top-grain leather;
printing, marbling or burnishing to create a distressed or antiqued appearance;
or for a satin or semi-gloss finish.

Use alone for a glossy finish (leather only). Do not use if you desire a matte finish.

NOTE: Mixing Clear Prep+Finish™ into colors that contain a lot of yellow, red, blue or green pigment (Buckskin, Butterscotch, Camel, Cognac, Mustard, Chocolate, Brick, Rust, Cherrywood, Red Chili, Wine, Plum, Midnight Blue, Storm Blue, Lagoon, Sea Foam and Pine) may result in a more vivid hue than simply using Clear Prep+Finish™ alone as a topcoat.

Do not use as a topcoat on vinyl or on any fabric, suede, nubuck, bonded or faux leather. Store at room temperature.Click here for SDS (Safety Data Sheet).

How much do I need?

2 oz. covers ~ 15 – 20 square feet
4 oz. covers ~ 30 – 40 square feet
8 oz. covers ~ 60 – 80 square feet
16 oz. covers ~ 120 – 160 square feet

Buy Clear Prep+Finish™ if you:

have absorbent leather or dry, sun-rotted vinyl;
want to dilute color to create a marbled, distressed, or burnished appearance;
or want a shiny finish.

Mix 1 to 2 parts Clear Prep+Finish™ + 1 part color for the first coat. Use one coat of Satin Sealer for a final topcoat.

Use equal parts color and Clear Prep+Finish™ from start to finish. If it dries too shiny, reduce the amount of clear in the mix for your final coat. Conversely, if more shine is desired, add more clear to the mix or use alone as a topcoat.

Apply a thin coat of Clear Prep+Finish™ and disperse quickly so it does not dry too shiny. You can also try equal parts color and clear.

Clear Prep and Seal totally rocks!

Our aniline sofa and love seat are decades old and should, by all rights, be replaced. But, since we have our daughters's family, with 7 children 13 and under, living with us, wedo not think that this would be a wise investment. So, I clean and re-seal the furniture about twice a year and it keeps on serving our needs. They look FANTASTIC just after I sealing them and when they look old and worn out I just reapply the clear seal and they are brand new again! Amazing! I have also learned from the Rub-N-Restore videos how to fix tears and as the leather getts thinner and thinner from the constant wear I just repair the rips and keep on going. I...More

Wonderful Product

Have used the colouring materials from Rub’n’ Restore on my dark brown and tan leather sofas and finished it off with this product. Never done anything like this before but I am very happy with the results. For the first 2 weeks - it looks like new and I am hoping it will stay that way for years to come!

This product is awesome!

I used R&R on a used sofa I bought for $150. The leather was quite beat up. It was brown, and my decor is gray, but I refurbished it anyway. It turned out well, but I don't like brown. I have 3 dogs and the redo was not holding up all that well. R&R makes this quite clear in all their literature and on their site. I was going to just buy a new sofa, but then I realized my big doofus dog would just ruin that one like he did my prior one because of our lifestyle. Beyond impressed!!!

Wow, I saw all the great reviews but nothing quite like seeing the results first hand..this has totally transformed our leather couch and chair. Very easy steps, I'd say pretty much impossible to screw up, a bit of elbow grease but absolutely worth it...amazing product overall :)

Great Product

We’ve done a few projects with products from Rub & Restore and have nothing but good things to say. The sealer has kept one office chair in great shape for 3 years now. We just did another chair and skipped the sealer. When the chair rubbed on the wood edge of the desk, paint came off. We ordered the sealer and now the paint stays on. Don’t skip this final step.

Love the results!

This leather recliner is about 5 years old and the leather on the headrest lost its color. My husband didn’t want to buy a new chair (😡) so when I learned about RubnRestore from a friend I decided to give it a go. Wow! The chair looks new! I originally ordered a 4-oz bottle of STONE but after testing, it wasn’t quite the color I wanted. Rather than return it I added black acrylic paint and 1/2 bottle of CLEAR PREP. With a kitchen sponge and Q-tips to get in those tight tufts, I applied 3 light coats using a circular motion to avoid streaking. Alcohol easily cleaned up any of my sloppy work (😜) and voila! My husband and I are both happy w...More

Awesome products

I can’t say enough about your products. We had multiple scratches on our Bernhardt sectional from my daughters cat. I worked with the company to order the perfect color match and used the clear coat. I recently touched up a few more spots and ordered more clear coat. Instead of buying a new sectional I was able to fix these minor scratches and avoid an expense purchase!

luv tge results

A company was going to dye the 2 end sections of my sofa plus the armrest for $500. I thought it would look ridiculous if I didn’t dye the entire sofa … I might as well invest the money in a new sofa. That was until I discovered Rub and Restore. Almost perfect... but not because of the product. I RUSHED through the job in under 30 minutes. Of course there were some flaws but not noticeable to anyone who didn't know of the dye project. I recommend. A friend already ordered samples and will dye her sofas too.
