I HAVEN'T LEFT A REVIEW FOR ANY PRODUCT IN 30 YEARS. THAT'S. BECAUSE I WAS ALMOST ALWAYS DISSATISFIED. I DIDN'T WANT TO WASTE MY TIME WRITING A REVIEW. BUT....IN THIS CASE I DECIDED TO GO AHEAD AND WRITE A REVIEW THAT DESERVES TO BE KNOWN FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING PRODUCT BUT ALSO THE OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE. THE RESULTS OF THE DYE I PURCHASED WERE UNBELIEVABLY OUTSTANDING. I CONSIDER MYSELF "OUTSTANDING" AS WELL FOR PURCHASING THIS OUTSTANDING PRODUCT. YES I KNOW....I USED THE WORD "outstanding" TOO MUCH. CAN'T HELP IT...

Hi, it's been a year since my first purchase and I bought more product to update my sofas. I have two big dogs and I let them rough house all they want in the sofas. This gives them an interesting distressed look and people often think it's intentional. I don't mind it so much, but my husband isn't so fond of the look, so I decided it was time to renew them. These were originally waxed aniline, oxblood red. I had trouble with the wax and you ladies helped me figure out how to get the wax off with denatured alcohol so the dye wouldn't flake off. Well that helped quite a bit, but the dogs still managed to wear off a lot of the dye. Now that I u...More

But the husband is happy. :-)

I bought a 2018 iM Toyota Corolla. The designers thought the black dashboard would look snazzy with a white lightening bolt. I did not. The upholsterer wanted $430 to take the dash apart and wrap the offending white bolt with black vinyl and put it back together. I said, "No, thanks" and found Rub 'n' Restore. I couldn't be happier with the result. I took it back to the dealership to show them how the iM could look with a little touch up. Next week, I'm going to show the upholsterer, too!

I ordered this confidently based on other reviews and testimonials but was beyond impressed with the results on my destroyed loveseat! Even with only one coat and my half assed patching job ( I have ZERO patience) it looks 100% better! I would recommend!!

I redid a turquoise leather couch with the black dye. VERY happy with the results. Couch looks fantastic. It took 3 coats to cover, still lots of product left. Fantastic!

I ordered Rub 'n Restore to change my cream/white leather chair to black. I can't believe the results. It took approximately 15 coats to change from white to black. About three hours total I'd say (the hair dryer makes a huge difference in dry time). The Rub 'n Restore product was very easy to use, and I only used about a quarter of a large bottle, so it does go a very long way. This chair costs around $2,000 new. Now for under $40 it looks just like new. My friends can't believe it is the same chair! Thank you for the great product and how-to video.

I initialy bought filler, black color, and this sealer to try to salvage leather seats in Spanish antique chairs for a Taos rehab project. If successful, I'd save about $700 for a custom leather reupholstering job. not a bad gamble for roughly $60. after refinishing the wood to clean and age appropreate condition, I worked on the leather, and the finished product is MUCH better than new leather. It retains some aged character, but appears all new. the clear sealer was the finishing key. Afterward I used the clear on a very high quality but neglected leather couch, cushions, and pillows, all really old, dry, dirty, and well used. After a quick cleaning of the surface (409), six coats of clear with an hour dry time between coats, and you'd swear these pieces were just delivered from the King Ranch saddlery and leather works. Maybe saved $5,000 replacement of those beauties.
And then there were the barn boots, ugly but in good condition... like new now with mahogany color and two clear coats.
Keep a quart of clear handy. I completed all the above ob less that 2 quarts, and saved a bundle.

I love your product! I ordered, for the 2nd time, black yesterday. It is amazing! With my first order of black I refurbished a 40 year old black leather wing back. I could have sold 10 of them. Customers fought over it!

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't terrified about dying my leather love seat. I watched the videos, gloved up, and got to it. It really is as easy as the videos imply. I chose Ebony so my coverage was noticeable immediately - by the second go around, the color was lush and I was inspired. After applying the Clear Prep & Finish the luster was evident. The next day, I napped on it - even drooled a bit, and the dye held up! I'm sold on this product and have told everyone - Their initial reaction is always, "You did what?! You dyed your leather love seat?!!" - Yes I did....I can't wait to do it again. This is easily the best product I've come acro...More

This is my second purchase to touch up the rub n restore project I did last year. We have two used, red, waxed-aniline sofas in fabulous condition, but I wanted black sofas. I purchased black and clear and mixed 3:1 for a slight sheen. First try was a flop -- I didn't get all the wax off, so the dye flaked off on to everything. I was extremely disappointed and so I called to ask for help. We talked it through and the ladies suggested odorless mineral spirits or denatured alcohol. I went with denatured alcohol and water 1:1 to get the Wax off and the adhesion was nearly perfect. The product doesn't soak in to dye or stain the leather -- it onl...More

I was extremely disappointed and so I called to ask for help. We talked it through and the ladies suggested odorless mineral spirits or denatured alcohol. I went with denatured alcohol and water 1:1 to get the Wax off and the adhesion was nearly perfect. The product doesn't soak in to dye or stain the leather -- it only covers over the leather so high-use spots will wear off. We have two big dogs that play on the sofas, and so after a year, about 1/2 the total coverage has worn away. The result in our case looks like intentionally distressed leather. It's easy to use, dries super fast, and makes much more sense than buying a new sofa. I don't worry about the dogs wearing down the color, and I feel like very small investment and time to refresh the color is by far a better solution that getting new furniture. I give the product 4 stars because it is semi-permanent and wears off over time. So while it's a very good Solution and an excellent value, it's not perfect.

It was really scarey experience, knowing so little about dying leather, in ordering the dye over the inter-net because there were so many negative opinions regarding a water base dye adhering to leather and/or vinyl. But decided to order your product anyways based on the positive testimonials on your web site and very, very glad that we did. Following the directions that came with the product and on your web site, the product worked out very well and the results were beyond our expectation.
