Product Details

Use our water-based finishes to restore and condition:

absorbent aniline and semi-aniline leather,
non-absorbent full-grain or top-grain leather,
and vinyl upholstery.

Our finishes won’t sunfade or backstain like leather dyes. They don't feel plasticky, flake or peel like spray paints.

Do not use on fabric, suede, nubuck, bonded or faux leather.

Store in a temperate, dark place away from children.

Changing color is best suited to absorbent leather.

If the material repels water, add cross-linker to the color to boost adhesion. Adding 1 Satin Sealer to 4 parts color also serves this purpose and is needed to seal bright colors.

Thorough cleaning and stress testing the color are critical!

The following are not good candidates and will require touch-up:

changing from red / dark to white / pale;
worn, cracking, scaly or thinning leather;
furniture with lots of wrinkles, folds, deep creases (and therefore stress);
pieces that are heavily used or harshly cleaned (kids, dogs, chemicals);
car or boat upholstery (for these we suggest a heavier urethane coating);
bonded, faux or polyurethane (PU) ‘leather’ which repel all finishes (including their own).

Here's what wear looks like on non-absorbent leather or vinyl:

Our finishes wear naturally, resulting in a distressed look.

Deeper lines or creases receive more stress.

Easy rub-off indicates inadequate cleaning.

The color may flake if applied too thickly and allowed to pool in the grain.

This is easily corrected by thinning the color with alcohol and reapplying.

Answer these three questions to determine what clear finish, if any, is needed for leather:

Do unworn areas absorb water?

Yes

Are you applying a primary or secondary color (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple)?

What kind of luster do you want?

Matte

Mix 1 to 2 parts Clear Prep+Finish™ + 1 part color for the first coat. Use one coat of Satin Sealer for a final topcoat.

Use equal parts color and Clear Prep+Finish™ from start to finish. If it dries too shiny, reduce the amount of clear in the mix for your final coat. Conversely, if more shine is desired, add more clear to the mix or use alone as a topcoat.

Apply a thin coat of Clear Prep+Finish™ and disperse quickly so it does not dry too shiny. You can also try equal parts color and clear.

Apply Clear Prep+Finish™ as a final topcoat.

The color will dry matte and does not need an additional sealer.

Mix 4 parts color with 1 part Clear Prep+Finish™ and use from start to finish (or alone as a final topcoat).

Mix equal parts color with 1 part Clear Prep+Finish™ and use as a final topcoat.

Use Clear Prep+Finish™ as a final topcoat.

Pure Magic

I was ready to send our cream leather recliner to Goodwill. It embarrassed me. A furniture repairman recommended this product. I bought the cream and gave it a try. I dont know what's in it or how it works (or how long it will stay this way) but it looks brand new! Cannot recommend highly enough if you are looking to breathe new life into worn/dirty/stained leather

When I purchased my kit you were so helpful and answered my questions. Still I was nervous about doing this. I love my old couch but it looked awful with all the scratches (worse than the pictures show). This weekend, 7 years later, I finally tackled the project. Why did I wait so long? LOL. It was so easy and the results great. My couch looks new but with all the nice soft wrinkles, no scratches. Thanks for a product that actually works and your great personal customer service.

I had a pair of ivory leather club chairs that had, embarrassingly, become covered in dog grime. A good cleaning and a few coats of the Rub n Restore dye completely transformed the chairs. They look brand new and I was able to lighten the color to be more contemporary. I would not hesitate to recommend this product to anyone wishing to restore or redesign their leather furniture.

I received a leather couch from my neighbor when she moved . I noticed it had some minor cat scratches and that the dye had worn off in several places. The ivory Rub n Restore color was a near perfect match! I gave the entire couch two coats and the damaged areas three coats. My ‘new’ couch is gorgeous!

I tried using over the counter products sold in big block hardware stores, but the quantity is so small, that you can barely do more that a square foot or two with those. When I used your product on a 20+ year old leather sofa, I was astounded by how nice it came out. Admittedly, it did take a few more applications than I though it would (I did thin layer applications as recommended by your youtube videos), but the finished product came out great! I would highly recommend this product

I have used your Ivory leather dye and the espresso die and the prep and finish. I am so incredibly impressed with your products! They made it to dingy white couches look practically brand new and repaired ugly scratches That were all over the seat cushions of my dark brown couch and have restored it to mint condition! And lastly I died a chair and ottoman with the espresso to match my couch and they look like they came from the same store! Fantastic product super easy to use and lots of help when I call to figure out how to do these projects. Thank you

What an amazing product! I just did the vinyl ceiling in my 1982 trawler boat. Very dirty and badly tobacco stained from previous owner. I tried every cleaner I could find and even had two professional boat cleaners try. Nothing. Then I found your product. So easy to apply. I am blown away. My ceiling looks like '1982' all over again!
