Mix Clear Prep+Finish™ with any color to make a more transparent glaze and use for:

priming absorbent aniline or top-grain leather as well as dry, porous vinyl;
mottling or printing a marbled, distressed, or burnished appearance;
or for a satin or semi-gloss finish.

Use alone for a glossy finish on leather (discouraged on vinyl). Do not use if you desire a matte finish.

Do not use on fabric, suede, nubuck, bonded or faux leather. Store at room temperature.Click here for SDS (Safety Data Sheet).

How much do I need?

2 oz. covers ~ 15 – 20 square feet
4 oz. covers ~ 30 – 40 square feet
8 oz. covers ~ 60 – 80 square feet
16 oz. covers ~ 120 – 160 square feet

Buy Clear Prep+Finish™ if you:

have absorbent leather or dry, sun-rotted vinyl;
want to dilute color to create a marbled, distressed, or burnished appearance;
or want a shiny finish.

Mix 1 to 2 parts Clear Prep+Finish™ + 1 part color for the first coat. Use one coat of Satin Sealer for a final topcoat.

Use equal parts color and Clear Prep+Finish™ from start to finish. If it dries too shiny, reduce the amount of clear in the mix for your final coat. Conversely, if more shine is desired, add more clear to the mix or use alone as a topcoat.

Apply a thin coat of Clear Prep+Finish™ and disperse quickly so it does not dry too shiny. You can also try equal parts color and clear.

The color will dry matte and does not need an additional sealer.

Mix 4 parts color with 1 part Clear Prep+Finish™ and use from start to finish (or alone as a final topcoat).

Your videos and pamphlet instructions for using Clear Prep and Rub n' Restore were very helpful and the results on our leather recliner were fantastic. Lesandre provided excellent help and quick follow-up to my many questions. The basic color matching service got me started matching the color of my couch. The Clear Prep+Finish Conditioner and Sealer provided the shiny finish and desired protection. The Rub'n Restore Videos and Web Pages are extremely helpful. The couch, pictures enclosed, was the initial project. Since completing the couch, I have successfully repaired a rip in a car back seat (using an important tip from Lesandre), renewed the color of a vinyl car steering wheel and leather shifter knob, and changed the color of a swivel-glider chair from cranberry to dark scarlet (without ...More

Any clear coat is not going to dye or impart color. We do make clear that our colors are finishes/coatings, not dyes, even though many folks don't understand the distinction and search for both. Learn more about the differences between dyes and finishes.
