Mix Clear Prep+Finish™ with any color to make a more transparent glaze and use for:

priming absorbent aniline or top-grain leather;
printing, marbling or burnishing to create a distressed or antiqued appearance;
or for a satin or semi-gloss finish.

Use alone for a glossy finish (leather only). Do not use if you desire a matte finish.

NOTE: Mixing Clear Prep+Finish™ into colors that contain a lot of yellow, red, blue or green pigment (Buckskin, Butterscotch, Camel, Cognac, Mustard, Chocolate, Brick, Rust, Cherrywood, Red Chili, Wine, Plum, Midnight Blue, Storm Blue, Lagoon, Sea Foam and Pine) may result in a more vivid hue than simply using Clear Prep+Finish™ alone as a topcoat.

Do not use as a topcoat on vinyl or on any fabric, suede, nubuck, bonded or faux leather. Store at room temperature.Click here for SDS (Safety Data Sheet).

How much do I need?

2 oz. covers ~ 15 – 20 square feet
4 oz. covers ~ 30 – 40 square feet
8 oz. covers ~ 60 – 80 square feet
16 oz. covers ~ 120 – 160 square feet

Buy Clear Prep+Finish™ if you:

have absorbent leather or dry, sun-rotted vinyl;
want to dilute color to create a marbled, distressed, or burnished appearance;
or want a shiny finish.

Mix 1 to 2 parts Clear Prep+Finish™ + 1 part color for the first coat. Use one coat of Satin Sealer for a final topcoat.

Use equal parts color and Clear Prep+Finish™ from start to finish. If it dries too shiny, reduce the amount of clear in the mix for your final coat. Conversely, if more shine is desired, add more clear to the mix or use alone as a topcoat.

Apply a thin coat of Clear Prep+Finish™ and disperse quickly so it does not dry too shiny. You can also try equal parts color and clear.

Outstanding results and service

Both the people and products from Rub N Restore are great. From the assistance in picking the correct dye color through the actual application process to the leather sofa and love seat, I couldn't have asked for better results. I found that applying just the clear coat at the end provided the desired sheen I was looking for. Also recommend that letting the sofa "dry" for at least a day before applying the clear coat.

MAKE SURE YOU WEAR GLOVES!

Love. LOVE. LOOOOOOOVE the clear coat! It's the frosting on the cake and bonus: I know it's helping protect the paint I just painted onto my color-changed couch.

My advice: wear gloves when you put the clear coat on over a color change - otherwise you might just unintentionally "paint" your fingernails! (see pic)lol. That's how I know that it's working to protect my couch - I had a hard time getting it off my fingernails!

It made such a difference in the final product - I'd HIGHLY recommend shelling out the little bit extra to get this product too!

Amazing!

I used this to prep a leather chair that had been kept outside for who knows how long and just one coat made it feel so soft and flexible again! It made for such an awesome base and top coat of dying the leather too. Get it even if you think you don’t need it!

Beyond Amazing

We have a leather couch, chair and ottoman that we purchased from sofa express about 13 years ago. We’ve had food dropped, drinks spilled, hand sanitizer stains and dog accidents. The furniture needed a facelift. This product was a game changer. I purchased the 8oz bottle of the Prep+Finish and 4oz of the Mahogany Vinyl and Leather Finish. The Prep+Finish did most of the work on the first coat. I then added the Mahogany finish mixed with the Prep+Finish. I squirted both of them on the same sponge and rubbed on as needed. I finished off with a couple coats of the Prep+Finish to give the matching shine. I still have plenty of product left for ...More

After using a number of so called leather treatments, we finally found Rubnrestore products. The instructions on how to clean and remove the prior finish was clear and to the point. The clear sealer primer was easy to apply and dried quickly, providing a great foundation for the application of the color.

2 year old sofa with seat cushions that were fading badly. Looks good!

Very nice company to work with. Per their recommendation I mixed 3 colors and my couch looks so much better. Two weeks after one coat and the leather fading is not apparent. I’ll do another coat soon. I’m satisfied with the product. I haven’t noticed any color transfer.

I highly recommend these products & service provided by RubnRestore. The videos & personalized service is great. The suggested colors matched perfectly. I had to patch the head rest. It didn't turn out quite as good, the indentation was deep. It still looks alot better than before & it isn't noticeable unless you are looking for it. I am very surprised & pleased with how it turned out.

Don't forget this stuff!!

This was just what I needed to deal up my project! I love that you can change the sheen with different dilution ratios described here! I really had fun doing this project. In fact, I just ordered more because I plan on transforming all of our furniture haha.

My chair is saved

I have an older Stickley chair that was stained and absorbing water. A friend mentioned how pleased she was with Rub'nRestore, so I tried it. I kept to the same color, and all the stains disappeared. The sealer has restored the luster as well. While it doesn't look new (20 years of use does leave a few indentations in the back) it does look amazingly good! It was simple to use. I am absolutely delighted! (Now what else can I restore?!?) Wish I had before picture of ink marks, Coffee stains, and who knows what else!
