This water-based clear finish for leather restores luster and adds stain resistance without compromising breathability and feel. Use it:

as a primer for absorbent leather,
as a protective topcoat,
to seal bright colors or
to dilute any Rub ‘n Restore® color.

It dries satin on absorbent leathers and more glossy on finished leathers. Do not use alone as a topcoat on vinyl or boat upholstery.

Mix Clear Prep+Finish™ with any color to make a more transparent glaze and use for:

priming absorbent aniline or top-grain leather;
printing, marbling or burnishing to create a distressed or antiqued appearance;
or for a satin or semi-gloss finish.

Use alone for a glossy finish (leather only). Do not use if you desire a matte finish.

NOTE: Mixing Clear Prep+Finish™ into colors that contain a lot of yellow, red, blue or green pigment (Buckskin, Butterscotch, Camel, Cognac, Mustard, Chocolate, Brick, Rust, Cherrywood, Red Chili, Wine, Plum, Midnight Blue, Storm Blue, Lagoon, Sea Foam and Pine) may result in a more vivid hue than simply using Clear Prep+Finish™ alone as a topcoat.

Do not use as a topcoat on vinyl or on any fabric, suede, nubuck, bonded or faux leather. Store at room temperature.Click here for SDS (Safety Data Sheet).

How much do I need?

2 oz. covers ~ 15 – 20 square feet
4 oz. covers ~ 30 – 40 square feet
8 oz. covers ~ 60 – 80 square feet
16 oz. covers ~ 120 – 160 square feet

have absorbent leather or dry, sun-rotted vinyl;
want to dilute color to create a marbled, distressed, or burnished appearance;
or want a shiny finish.

Mix 1 to 2 parts Clear Prep+Finish™ + 1 part color for the first coat. Use one coat of Satin Sealer for a final topcoat.

Use equal parts color and Clear Prep+Finish™ from start to finish. If it dries too shiny, reduce the amount of clear in the mix for your final coat. Conversely, if more shine is desired, add more clear to the mix or use alone as a topcoat.

I just restored my vinyl top on my 90 Coupe Devile. This product will seal the surface so you will use less product to cover the project. The vinyl was in sad shape it tore through 2 sponges to apply the primer because the surface was so rough. Use a real sponge and wet it as directed and blot the primer on so you can spread it evenly. I used this as a primer coat and a finish coat to seal it. An 8 oz. bottle along with an 8 oz. bottle of color will do the job. The people are great and very helpful.
