Custom Color Service

$120

Send a sample, and email photos to customize a matching color for your vinyl or leather.

This fee is for labor (see the process and timeline below). The color is a separate cost: 8 oz. is the order minimum for $56; the 16 oz. size is a better value at $89. Your formula and a master swatch will be kept on file should you ever re-order.

Formulation and re-order fees are non-refundable. We do not accept returns on Custom Colors.

Custom Colors will not be mixed March 21-31 while Jane is on vacation.

Find a Sample

The bigger the better. Color matches will not be guaranteed on samples smaller than 2″ x 3″ size. Samples can be:

  • Original leather or vinyl (found underneath cushions, or pull some staples and trim from the frame);
  • Cushion case (please indicate which area you want matched with a piece of blue painters tape);
  • Headrest, fuse panel cover, or component from a vehicle;
  • Paint chip from a hardware store (beware, the paint chip may not actually match the material).

Swatches taken from the frame or under cushions may not match the rest of the piece, which means a Custom Color may not either, and you will have to do more blending or refinish the entire piece. In this instance, you may prefer using one of our standard colors.

The Process & Timeline

Upon receipt of your sample, we email you with either an invoice or request for more information. Once paid, we begin formulation. This is usually completed in just 1-2 business days. However, if we have a lot of Custom Colors in the queue, it may take up to a week. When it ships, you’ll receive a tracking number along with any specific recommendations for use.

We begin by mixing a small amount of color and test it directly on your sample. We examine it in direct sunlight and indoors. We adjust the color accordingly and re-examine until we are satisfied with the formula. This is a painstaking process done with a professional eye. No computer can read the color on a textured surface nor write a formula as accurately, and certainly not without human refinement. This is especially true with base-and-print or marbled aniline leathers.

We then expand the formula to the desired volume. This final color is tested once more on your sample and adjusted if necessary. We stain a piece of scrap leather or vinyl. Half is returned to you with your order (and any components you may have sent); the other is retained on file in the event of a re-order.

Please note, pigments drift. Despite having a formula and swatch on file, if you re-order, we go through the whole song-and-dance again, and so a re-mix fee is charged.

    After many times of trying cleaning and applying dye that I bought, I still have an issue with coloring. It does not bond into the vinyl or leather deep enough it looks to me that it is just a top, thin layer of dye that could be erased easily with cloth and a little bit of water. I know that you will be saying that never happened before it is just I do something wrong, but believe me I went 100 times completely through the website and the notes. It does not work as described. I am very disappointed of the poor product, but the company did refund me.

    This product did an amazing job on my sectional. I was scared to use it because our couch is very high end and was concerned the colors would not match etc. My husband had spilt salad with dressing not once but twice. So big oil stains darkened two areas. Local companies said there was nothing that would get it out. This product has made my couch look new again. The stains are gone. Really thrilled. It was easy to use, custom color 100% perfect and helpful owners.

    I want to thank you again for solving the biggest issue I had with the interior in our new restaurant. You really were my savior on this and I can't thank you enough! The booths "V's" had been stark white and you matched them perfectly to the ivory we needed.

    Just finished doing the upholstery on my 2003 Searay. I was a little apprehensious about doing it, but I could not be happier. They supplied me with Color # 9139 (re-mix from color on file) and Clear coat which I applied with a damp pponge. I worked in the color evenly and after drying, applied the Clear Coat Sealer. I bought this boat new and the finished product is better than when I bought this soat. I have been Showing it around the marina here and people are amazed. Thank you again for all your help answering all my questions. I hope to send you some business in the future.

    We have 3 cats that have done a number on our 3 leather pieces in the living room and the custom color we chose was a very close match to the original color. I was impressed by the coverage provided by the dye.

    I wanted to again say thank you for the advice and encouragement to tackle my leather. While you may not be able to notice a big change, we do. The custom color was just fine. I applied it by sponge. How cool was it where the leather had been sun damaged to see color on it again! The products were great. I chose to not completely cover the entire couch, but blend in where needed. The clear coat is also a great product. So glad I found you guys! I love sitting on our couches again!

    This is the second time I have used a custom color. It does an amazing job of making tired old cracked leather look great. Added some clear conditioner to the color to give it some shine and it worked perfectly. I have never seen a product for leather renew that worked this well. Highly recommend.

    There was light spots in a few places from my constant moving around on this loveseat & we had tried other dyes which either wore off or left darker spots where we covered the light spots. This is part of a three piece couch set which is no longer made & would have had to be replaced entirely. Now the entire set looks like the day it was delivered.

    I have to say I am just thrilled with the results. Such a rich brown color without sacrificing the natural imperfections or 'two tone' at all. I used a large sponge, squirted two lines of color and a little less of conditioner and went at it. I kept telling myself what you told me, 'make it quick and easy'. I only used half the bottle of 16 oz color and half of 8 oz conditioner. Plenty left for the future or other projects. Very happy with OUR results. Thank you for all the attention.ā€

    MY 2011 BUICK ENCLAVE HAD THE DRIVERS SIDE SEAT LOOKING BAD. I FOLLOWED THE DIRECTIONS AND IT BROUGHT IT BACK TO ALMOST UNNOTICEABLY NEW CONDITION. THE COLOR WAS SO CLOSE THAT AFTER APPLICATION YOU COULDN'T TELL ANYTHING WAS DIFFERENT FROM THE PASSENGER SEAT. GREAT STUFF!

    The color match was excellent. The product was easy and quick to apply, mess free too. I covered a sofa and loveseat in 2.5 hours, giving each cushion 3-4 coats. The product made the items look like new.
